Weesp is a beautiful old fortified town on the Vecht. Ideal for exploring on foot, so you can enjoy the heritage in peace.
Fighting quay
You can see the Torenfort from 1861 here. You can walk into the picturesque old town via the beautiful monumental Lange Vecht bridge. On the quay of the Oudegracht and the Vecht you will experience the atmosphere of days gone by. You pass De Vriendschap, a corn mill from 1900, and De Eendragt, a polder mill from 1691.
Wooden houses
There are some beautiful nineteenth-century wooden houses on the Molenpad. The Gemeentemuseum Weesp is now located in the former town hall from 1776: you can learn more about the history of this fortified town here. At the Waagplein you can see the Sint-Laurenskerk, a beautiful late Gothic cruciform church from 1462.
