Description
The route starts at Lentemaheerd. This overnight accommodation was named Best VeKaBo accommodation in the Netherlands in 2015. In the Hogeland you cycle through a wide landscape and authentic terp villages with centuries-old churches. And you can get a breath of fresh air while you cycle over the winding dikes. In Godlinze you pass the thirteenth-century Pancratius church
During the route you will also pass through the idyllic terp village of Westeremden. Here the famous painter Henk Helmantel has a museum in the Weem, a fully renovated rectory from the Middle Ages. Get off to take a look.
In the heart of Loppersum you will find a characteristic atmosphere thanks to the beautiful monumental buildings. At junction 65 in Uithuizen, go a little to the left for a visit to the Menkemaborg, one of the most beautiful of the seventeen still existing Groningen borgen.
