The ground at the stream is quite moist, here you walk among species such as black alder and ash. Further on is the centuries-old Terborgh Castle. Members of the infamous De Bokkenrijders were imprisoned in this former moated castle around the eighteenth century. Further on you pass the Mulderplas, a former swamp area where the State mines once discharged the polluted rinse water used to wash the coal. From Brasserie De Muldermolen you walk up the Krekelberg, a hill that is over 100 meters high. Above Schinnen you enter the Wolfhagerbos, this poplar and willow forest is intersected by the Kakkert stream.

Eating in an old church may sound a bit crazy, but it is actually very special and surprising. Experience it for yourself at brasserie Abshoven on the outskirts of Munstergeleen. This church is the only remnant of a monastic complex that stood empty for years. The old elements of the church are beautifully combined with cozy furniture in this brasserie. This creates a special and cozy atmosphere. Enjoy a nice cup of coffee, a beer or something delicious from the kitchen. How about a piece of homemade pie, soup, sandwiches, salads or a hot meal for dinner? That will certainly taste after a good bike ride or a walk. When the weather is nice, you can settle down on the terrace behind the church. You can enjoy a snack and a drink on the terrace with a view of the Absbroekbos. The terrace is sheltered by a piece of ruins that remains from the monastery.
