Hulst is also called the most Flemish city in the Netherlands. This fortified city is a real hiking gem. On foot you have plenty of time to soak up the rich cultural history.

Fallen Warrior
On the edge of Hulst you walk into the Clingse Bossen. You see old summer oaks and beeches, but also exotic species that were created for logging. Further on you walk past De Gevallen Krijger, a monument from 1956 in memory of the victims of the Second World War. The monument was made by a 16-year-old at the time.

Fortified town of Hulst
From outside the city you can still see the old ramparts from the time when Hulst was a fortress. The old core enjoys a protected cityscape. You will therefore find many sights. A few years ago, the fifteenth-century Basilica of Saint Willibrord was proclaimed the most beautiful church in the Netherlands. Streekmuseum de Vier Ambachten is located in a former refuge for monks, the building originally dates from the sixteenth century. The town hall on the Grote Markt is a Gothic jewel from 1534.
