The Eibergen area is great for cycling. Jump on the saddle and discover the charm of the Achterhoek scenic landscape. Thanks to the peace and quiet in this Dutch-German border area, you can fully recharge your proverbial battery.
Baroque church
The route starts at Natuurcamping't Scharvelt, a nice place to stay if you want to enjoy the peace and nature that the Achterhoek is known for. You drive into the famous Achterhoek scenic landscape with its fields, meadows and hedgerows. It is wonderful to cycle here, the Achterhoek is never boring! Zwilbroek/Zwillbrock is a hamlet that is bisected by the border. In the German part is the St. Francis Church from 1720. It is the best preserved Baroque church in Münsterland.
Piepermolen
A little later you drive through the Zwillbrocker Venn, one of the oldest nature reserves in Germany. Striking: this is the northernmost breeding area for flamingos in Europe, you can spot them between March and June. You will also cycle past the Piepermolen, a striking flour mill from 1796. The monumental mill has nothing to do with potatoes, but takes its name from the family that owned it between 1907 and 1965.
