A tour from Westerbork

From the Drenthe village of Westerbork you can take a beautiful bike ride through Central Drenthe. You cycle through a varied landscape full of nature, ash trees and characteristic farms.

Esdorpen
First you drive through the village of Zwiggelte, on the Hoofdstraat you will see a few beautiful eighteenth-century farms. You can also experience the atmosphere of a bygone era in the esdorp of Hijken, located further away.

The Scharreveld
Beilen is a large esdorp. Here you will pass, among other things, the Stephen's Church, a beautiful Gothic church building from the fourteenth century. Further on is the Makkum, a beautiful flour mill from 1906. From the saddle you have a beautiful view over the undulating heathland of the Het Scharreveld nature reserve. How peaceful it is here! Finally, you pass through the village of Westerbork, where you can admire the fifteenth-century Stephen's Church.
