Walking through the Streekbos

Just west of Enkhuizen is the Streekbos: a relatively young nature reserve where you can go for a lovely walk. Put on your walking shoes and come and experience the peace here!

Public Observatory Orion
From here you can walk straight into Het Streekbos. This nature reserve was only created in 1978. Previously, the land where the Streekbos now grows was part of the large sailing polder. There is still a sailing connection to Enkhuizen from the forest! In the forest there is a unique observatory with an observatory, exhibition space and planetarium: Public Observatory Orion.

Barefoot Path
It is wonderful to walk through the Streekbos. Ideal if you want to recharge the proverbial battery or if you want to chat with friends and family. If you walk out of the forest, you will come to De Gouw along the Blotevoetenpad: a nice experience. The route leads you further through the polder towards Enkhuizen. You walk through a few green new housing estates, after which you walk back into the vast grasslands.
