Description

This walk takes you through the polder between Renswoude and Veenendaal. You walk a few kilometers on the Grebbelinie, you also pass Castle Renswoude.

Frontline
On the left lies the province of Utrecht, on the right Gelderland. You will pass Fort aan de Buursteeg, which was built in 1786. In 1940 this fort was still in the front line when the Germans invaded. You can learn more about this in the visitor center.

Castle Renswoude
Just before Renswoude Castle you walk through the protected village of Renswoude. An idyllic environment of old farms, hedgerows and lowland streams. Renswoude Castle dates from 1350. You can take a look at the front and daydream. The cottage is privately inhabited, so not accessible. In the castle forest you pass three monumental Italian benches from 1900 at a three-fork. At the Schalm you can still see two old casemates in the landscape.
