Walking route Elspeet and Elspeterveld

This route takes you through Elspeet and the varied nature to the west of this village. At the start of your route, take a moment to look across the road. There you will see the beautiful rectory from 1851 and the accompanying monumental garden pavilion. Further on, you will pass De Hoop, a windmill from 1894. A little later, you will walk along the edge of a small heathland. After a while, the heath gives way to quiet lanes, meadows, and fields. On the Schaarweg, you will see a modest monument to the crew of a British Lancaster that crashed here on February 20, 1944. Finally, you walk across the Elspeterveld, a heathland complex where you will see Scots pines, oak scrub, and coniferous forest. The route ends with lunch at the atmospheric Hotel & Inn Herberg De Zwaan Elspeet.
