Walking in the outskirts of Roermond

Just outside Roermond you can enjoy walking through forests and meadows. Grab your hiking boots and come experience it for yourself.

The Spik
The route starts at Farm Terrace and Camping Spikkerdal. On the terrace you can enjoy a fresh flan with coffee or a dish from the small menu, while looking out at the orchards. From the Spikkerdal you can walk straight into the Spik: an ecological connecting zone. Here you walk through flowery grasslands, small patches of forest and transitional areas with shrubs and rougher herbs. It is nice and quiet to walk through here.

Melickerheide
Further on you walk into the woods of the Melickerheide. This was once a military training ground, now it is the gateway to the Meinweg National Park. You can walk here in the silence between the coniferous and deciduous trees. A little later you walk through the agricultural area that is intersected by the Maasnielderbeek. Via Asenray you return to Het Spikkerdal. Stay here to discover Roermond and the Meinweg.
