The Staverden Estate has a rich history. And a special one at that: Staverden was granted city rights in 1298. However, this did not lead to the development of a real city. Staverden remained small, which is why you can now experience abundant natural beauty and a unique atmosphere there. First, you walk past the nineteenth-century Coach House, which was built on the foundations of a seventeenth-century predecessor. The current castle is not old either: the Art Nouveau building is the fourth castle on this site. Next, you walk through the beautiful old forests growing along the Staverdensebeek stream. An ideal setting to unwind and find inner peace. Along the way, you pass the monumental watermill located near the castle. The route ends with a delicious lunch on the terrace of Brasserie Staverden.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
