Walking route from Brasserie Abshoven to the historic city center of Sittard

This walk takes you from Brasserie Abshoven to the historic center of Sittard - and back again. This will be a nice walk in a rolling setting of orchards, grasslands and sloped forests. Until you reach Sittard you walk almost all the time along the leafy Geleenbeek. You can enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful views here. You pass through Stadspark Sittard. This was once a swamp, but between 1921 and 1933 it was transformed into a park with characteristics of the English and French style. On the edge of the park you can make a stop at Buitenplaats De Vief Heringe, a cozy catering location located in the centuries-old Ophovener mill. In the heart of Sittard you will see plenty of beautiful monumental buildings. You walk back to the starting point through the hills and the Danikerbos.
