A tour of South Beveland

Cycling in Zuid-Beveland in Zeeland is nice and quiet. You can enjoy views over the Westerschelde and Oosterschelde. You also take a short trip across the Brabantse Wal.

South Beveland
The route starts near Oostdijk, a village in South Beveland. In this region you cycle through an open polder landscape of meadows and fruit orchards. Just before Waarde you pass De Hoed, a flour mill that was originally built in Ghent in 1550. It has been at its current location since 1991. In Waarde itself you can admire the centuries-old village church. Cycling along the dike on the Western Scheldt offers wonderful views. And you can get a breath of fresh air!

Brabantse Wal
After crossing the Scheldt-Rhine Canal, which opened in 1975, you can make a pit stop in Ossendrecht on the cozy terrace of Hotel Restaurant Dekkers. From the Brabantse Wal you will soon have a beautiful view over the polders. Just past junction 32 you look out over the Markiezaatsmeer, the largest wetland in the Netherlands after the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. A little later you enter Zuid-Beveland again. And enjoy the view over the Oosterschelde.
