The Saint Sixtus Abbey
The starting point of this route is at the Sint Sixtus Abbey. This 19th century abbey is known for the Trappist beer that is brewed there. Opposite the abbey you will find a café where the abbey beer is served, if you want to taste it yourself. From here you head to the Hopbedrijf Lemahieu. At this company hops are grown to make beer, among other things. The plant is also used as a medicinal product. Pay a visit to this hop company and learn more about hops. The next sight on the route is De Hooipiete, a bridge that was built in the 19th century to make it easier for farmers to bring in hay.
