Cycling route 558881
Provided by: Groots Genieten
The Loosdrechtse Plassen and the Vecht are beautiful, they already knew that centuries ago. It is not surprising that you can find beautiful old country estates here. Close to the city of Utrecht, this varied route also leads you past a few forts. This region is so rich in history!
From the edge of Utrecht you first cycle via Groenekan and Nieuwe Wetering to the nineteenth-century estate Persijn, where a beautiful monumental country house adorns the area. You drive straight through the Loosdrechtse Plassen to another beautiful historic spot: Weerestein, a country estate whose main building dates from 1705. Weerestein is in good company along the beautifully meandering river Vecht: you can't wait to see all those beautiful country estates !
The route leads you successively past Fort Tienhoven and Fort de Gagel, both part of the New Dutch Waterline. Fort de Gagel is being developed into a gateway to the Noorderpark that you have just cycled through, including an information center.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
