This route takes you from Noordwijkerhout along the flower bulb fields for which this region is so famous. You also walk along the edge of the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen and through other beautiful green areas. That is pure enjoyment of natural beauty!
The Heart of the Bollenstreek
The starting point of this route is in Noordwijkerhout. In the vicinity of Noordwijkerhout you will find the largest area of colorful bulb fields in the entire region, which is why the place is also called'Heart of the Bulb Region\\\'. In Noordwijkerhout you can take a look at Het Witte Kerkje, a historic church in the center of Noordwijkerhout. You then walk into the outskirts of Noordwijkerhout. Here you can enjoy one bulb field after another with beautifully colorful flowers. You also walk along the Oosterduinse lake. The lake was created by excavations of the former Oosterduinen in the 1950s and 1960s. The sand that was excavated was used by a sand-lime brick factory in the area.
Estate Sancta Maria
You then walk back to Noordwijkerhout via De Zilk. You walk along the Sancta Maria estate. This estate is full of monumental trees and you can also enjoy impressive views.

De Zilk is a small village that is completely devoted to bulb cultivation, especially hyacinth cultivation. Traditionally, the large bulb growers had their business in the'Kleine Zilk\\\' and the'Grote Zilk\\\' was used as a residential area for the workers involved in bulb cultivation. In April you will find all kinds of beautiful works of art made with hyacinth flowers along the roads, a special sight to see. You will also pass De Dierenhoeve petting zoo.
