Get to know bustling Kortrijk and the beautiful surroundings of the city full of green natural beauty and water. Along the way you cycle along the banks of the Leie, the Heulebeek and the lake in the Bergelen recreation area.
Get on your bike in Kortrijk
Kortrijk is the starting point of this route. In this city, history and urban renewal go hand and hand, resulting in a nice mix of historic buildings and modern initiatives. From Kortrijk you set course for the villages of Heule, Gullegem and Moorsele. You will cycle past the Preetjes mill from 1867, the Gulden Spoor brewery, Moorsele Castle and through the Bergelen Provincial Domain. The Provincial Domain of Bergelen consists of meadows, game fields, hay fields and forests that you can enjoy by bike. A little further on the route is the Kezelberg Military Cemetery. This cemetery contains the graves of more than a hundred soldiers who died in and around Moorsele during the First World War.
Old and new sights
You then cycle on to Wevelgem and back to Kortrijk. You will cycle past Molen De Grote Macht, the Kloosterhof, the Texture museum, which is dedicated to the flax and linen industry, the artistic workshop de Budafabriek, the jetty Guido Gezellepad Kortrijk and the Begijnhof Kortrijk.

In the middle of Kortrijk you will find the beautiful ancient beguinage with 41 houses dating from the 17th century. The Sint-Elisabeth Begijnhof dates from 1238 and is a combination of a square beguinage and a street beguinage. The court is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and that is not surprising, because the historical buildings that you will find here have been well preserved. Take a moment to stroll around and look around you.
