Your route starts at Camping De Meulinge. Then you cycle through a beautiful nature reserve, the Nieuwerkerkse Kreek (or Nieuwkerkse Kreek), near the village of Groede. The creek was a tributary of the Nieuwerhavense Gat, which formed during the floods of 1583. The creek was named after the former village of Nieuwerkerke, which disappeared under the waves in 1585. The Torenweg and the Torenhoeve farm to the north of the creek also serve as reminders of this lost village. You cycle along car-free lanes through the Zeeland-Flanders landscape of vast grasslands and creeks. In Oostburg, you really must stop for a moment. It is the heart of West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. There you will see the beautifully painted Oostburg water tower, the highest point in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen at 55 meters.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
