There is plenty of cultural history to experience in the Achterhoek. This route takes you along Kasteel Ruurlo, Farm Museum de Lebbenbrugge and through the picturesque towns of Ruurlo and Borculo.
Coulisse landscape
The route starts and ends at TOP Berkel Palace on the outskirts of Borculo. You drive straight into the Achterhoek bocage landscape. While cycling you can enjoy views of hedgerows, streams and forests. You regularly pass a characteristic Saxon farm. You can enjoy a delicious pancake at De Heikamp in the middle of the forests of Ruurlo. After all, De Heikamp is Dutch Pancake Baking Champion!
Borculo on the Berkel
Ruurlo is a charming town where you can still experience a wonderfully authentic atmosphere. You can also admire some beautiful old buildings. Further on you will pass Farm Museum de Lebbenbrugge. This centuries-old Saxon farmhouse is located on the stream De Slinge: a great photo opportunity! Borculo is a town that received city rights in 1375. Prince Willem V of Orange-Nassau purchased the Borculo seigneury in 1777. As a result, King Willem-Alexander still bears the title'Lord of Borculo\\\'.
