From Enkhuizen you quickly turn your gaze to the IJsselmeer and the island of Marken. Also discover the hinterland, with its lovely villages and extensive bulb fields!
Monumental dike
You start just behind Enkhuizen and first drive to picturesque Andijk. From here you follow the centuries-old West Frisian Omringdijk along the IJsselmeer to Wervershoof. This is the only monumental dike in the world, which demarcates a unique cultural-historical area: West Friesland. A true cycling gem where you ride through authentic ribbon villages and a centuries-old polder landscape. You drive high over the Dijkweg, looking out over the water with all its boats. Holiday feeling at its best!
Bulb area
This region is also known for the colorful bulb fields that are a feast for the eyes in the spring. Wervershoof, for example, has many bulb growers, just like Bovenkarspel. You will also pass through characteristic towns such as Hoogkarspel, Lutjebroek and Hauwert with its beautiful white fifteenth-century Nicholas Church.
