Want to spend a day charging the proverbial battery? Then come and cycle in the natural countryside of the Brabant villages of Etten-Leur and Rijsbergen.

Flowing meadow
The first kilometers you drive through a mix of fields, meadows and streams. Every now and then you pass a small forest plot. It is nice to cycle miles here, ideal for a quiet day of cycling. You pass De Menmoerhoeve. Grab a terrace here and experience Burgundian Brabant. You pass through old hamlets with striking names, such as Hellegat. You also drive through Vloeiweide, a special nature reserve that was created from a former irrigation system for agriculture.

Liesbos
Further on you drive a bit through the Liesbos, which mainly consists of deciduous trees. It is the largest old pedunculate oak forest in the Netherlands. The Liesbos has not been the property of the Lord of Breda for centuries. From 1403 these were the Counts of Nassau, the ancestors of the royal family. They mainly used the forest for hunting. In Etten-Leur you pass De Lelie, a flour mill from 1804. The route ends a little further on.

De Turfvaart is a unique combination of recreational activities around Paviljoen De Turfvaart. Come and have a nice lunch, drink or dinner in the pavilion and discover the taste of local regional products! In the pavilion or on the beautiful terrace you can enjoy a snack and a drink with a view over the marina and the Westpolderplas. The lake is ideal for swimming, supping and diving. You can sunbathe and relax on the sunbathing lawn. De Turfvaart also has a marina and camper place.

The Menmoerhoeve is located just below Etten-Leur, a village west of Breda. You can still enjoy the authentic Burgundian Brabant life here. Outdoor recreation in a rural environment and tasting specialties from the farm and region: you don't get closer to nature! The Menmoerhoeve is one of the Baroniepoorten, the ideal starting point for walking and cycling tours. On the rural terrace you can enjoy various delicacies, fresh from the farm and from the region. There is a petting zoo, playground and camping site. Groups can enjoy a pleasant day with various activities.
