Charging the battery in Brabant

Would you like to recharge the proverbial battery for a day? Then come and cycle in the natural countryside of the Brabant villages of Etten-Leur and Rijsbergen.

The first kilometers you drive through a mix of fields, meadows and streams. Every now and then you pass a small forest plot. It is nice to make kilometers here, ideal for a quiet day of cycling. You will pass De Menmoerhoeve. Grab a nice terrace here and experience Burgundian Brabant. You pass through old hamlets with striking names, such as Hellegat. You also drive through Vloeiweide, a special nature reserve that arose from a former agricultural irrigation system.

Liesbos
Further on you drive a bit through the Liesbos, which mainly consists of deciduous trees. It is the largest old pedunculate oak forest in the Netherlands. The Liesbos has not been the property of the Lord of Breda for centuries. From 1403 these were the Counts of Nassau, the ancestors of the royal family. They mainly used the forest for hunting. In Etten-Leur you pass De Lelie, a flour mill from 1804. A little further on, the route ends.
