In the Gelderse Vallei you will find an almost old-fashioned tranquility. Beautiful views and sights alternate in the wide landscape. Ideal for a day of cycling.
The tree
Just before Lunteren you drive a bit through the Luntersche Buurtbosch, which was laid out around 1890 by notary Van den Ham. From the village you cycle into the Gelderse Vallei: a lowland with extensive polders and many streams. It is wonderful to cycle through this quiet area. The kilometers seem to pass by themselves under your wheels. Just before Woudenberg, which some say is in the middle of the Netherlands, you will pass Landgoed De Boom.
Picturesque Scherpenzeel
Scherpenzeel is an old village that once lay on a strategic point on the border of Gelre and Het Sticht (Utrecht). You can see here, among other things, the monumental Reformed Church from 1300. A little further on is Het Hooge Huys, a monument from the first half of the seventeenth century. Just outside Renswoude you pass the privately inhabited Castle Renswoude from 1350.
