From the starting point you drive through a wide landscape and old villages to Blauwestad. You can admire this modern and unique example of landscape design from a bicycle. Wide views over the water alternate with young forests. The route leads you past some sights, such as characteristic Groningen farms and churches. The church in Nieuwolda does not have a weathervane on the spire, but a mermaid as a reference to the land that has been reclaimed from the sea. After getting off, you can still stroll around in Termunterzijl: this town enjoys a protected village view.
