Mill walk near Bronkhorst

From Bronkhorst you can walk straight into the IJssel valley. A wonderful area to get a breath of fresh air and forget the worries of everyday life. You will also see a few beautiful old mills and farms here.

Bronkhorster Mill
Soon you pass the Bronkhorster Molen. This corn mill dates from 1844, it stands on the site of its burnt-down predecessor. As for that predecessor: it was a ban mill, so the inhabitants of Bronkhorst were obliged to have their corn ground here. After all, the lords of Bronhorst had the right to, as it was so nicely called,'the use of the wind\\\' until 1795.

The Hope
Further on you will pass Groot Emmer, a monumental farm from 1875. In the hamlet of Rha - a village that is more than 1000 years old - you will pass De Hoop. This corn mill dates from 1879. It replaced a burnt down mill from 1856. It is lovely to walk back to Bronkhorst over the footpath between the meadows. The route ends here in style: at Herberg De Gouden Leeuw, a cosy and historical location.
