Cycling through the IJssel valley near Bronkhorst

From Bronkhorst you drive straight into the beautiful IJssel valley. A region where you can enjoy wide views in a typical Dutch landscape. And as befits Gelderland, you will also find historical sights.

Smallest town
Bronkhorst likes to profile itself as the smallest town in the Netherlands. In any case, it is certainly one of the most beautiful towns! You will have a hard time driving away from here. In the IJssel valley, the kilometres seem to glide by under your wheels. It is wonderful to cycle through the flowery floodplains. From the dike you have a beautiful view over the water. And on the other side of the water you can see the Veluwezoom rising up. A mighty view.

Suideras Castle
In the polders around Steenderen, Toldijk and Baak it is wonderfully quiet. Just outside Wichmond you will pass Kasteel Suideras which is situated in a beautiful park-like forest. This country house was built in the neo-renaissance style at the end of the nineteenth century. However, the estate dates back to 1326. The route ends in the uber-picturesque Bronkhorst at Herberg De Gouden Leeuw: a place full of history and cosiness.
