Description
With this route you will discover the beautiful nature around Bussum. You will drive through the Tafelbergheide and the Westerheide. You will also pass through the historical centres of Bussum and Huizen.
Fortified town of Naarden
The route starts at the parking lot in the heart of Bussum. A little further on you will pass Naarden, one of the best preserved fortified cities in Europe. From the canal you have a beautiful view of this historic town. In the forests on the edge of the Gooimeer are many villas and country houses. No wonder, it is wonderfully quiet here.
Western Heath
Switch back a bit to enjoy the historical atmosphere in Huizen. A little later you cycle into the woods. At junction 80 you are almost at the highest point of the Gooi: the 36-metre-high sand ridge called Table Mountain. Finds in prehistoric burial mounds show that people have lived here since 2500 BC. On the Westerheide you have beautiful views. Via Natuurbrug Crailoo and the Frans Kampheide you cycle back to the centre.
