Get off at Herberg de Brabantse Kluis, a beautiful rural spot on the edge of the beautiful De Biezen nature reserve. When you think of windmills, you don't immediately think of Brabant, but there are beautiful examples here. Along the way you will immediately discover the beautiful nature. First you pass the Laurentia, a thatched corn mill from 1893. In Bakel you pass the Sint Willibrordus, a corn mill from 1586. The shooting guild Sint-Willibrordus used the mill for royal shooting until about 1960. You drive through the fragrant conifers in the Zandbos and the Brouwhuissche Heide to the Johanna-Elisabeth. This flour mill from 1844 is one of the few bottle-shaped mills in the Netherlands. Just past Liessel you drive past the Deurnese Peel and De Stippelberg, wonderful nature reserves.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
