Oss, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 552962

This route offers a beautiful walk through the Herpse Bossen woods. This area used to be a heathland and drifting sand, but since the late nineteenth century, it has been planted with Scots pine to capture drifting sand and provide mining timber. Today, you'll also find areas of deciduous forest, heathland, and the naturally formed Ganzenven. At Restaurant De Kriekeput, it's time for a drink and a bite to eat on a pleasant terrace, before heading back into the woods, full of energy. You'll pass a remnant of the sand drifts that once covered a larger portion of the area. A little further on, you'll walk along the shore of Klompven, a recreational lake created by sand extraction during the construction of the A50 motorway.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
