Molen de Huisman is a small windmill on the Zaanse Schans. This mill was placed on the warehouse De Haan in 1955. The mill has been used over the centuries as a tobacco mill, mustard mill and saw mill.

The Gekroonde Poelenburg is a wood saw-paltrok mill that was transferred to the Zaanse Schans in 1964. The original mill was built in 1731 in Oostzaandam.

Paint mill De Kat is the only working wind paint mill in the world. A paint mill was built on this site around 1646, which was later converted into an oil mill. In 1782 the mill went up in flames and after that the mill was rebuilt again. This mill was in use until 1904, after which the mill was partially demolished. In 1960 the mill was partially rebuilt and then De Kat was refitted as a paint mill again. The mill is located between the various mills of the Zaanse Schans, on the water of the Zaan. The first paint mill in this area was built around 1646. More than fifty paint mills used to adorn the Zaanse land. The mill is in operation every day in the summer. Professional millers still make pigments for paint and chalk in this mill using traditional methods.

The Searcher is an oil mill on Zaanse Schans that was originally built in Zaandijk in 1676. In 1968 the mill was moved to Zaanse Schans.

Het Jonge Schaap is a sawmill that was built between 2006 and 2007 in the Zaanse Schans. This mill is a replica of a mill that was built in Zaandam in 1680. The original mill was demolished in 1942. Once in the Zaan region you could find more than a hundred working saw mills in the Bovenkruier, but now Het Jonge Schaap is the only one of its kind. The mill has been operational since the summer of 2007 and the mill will be officially used from September. The crankshaft of the mill has been broken several times, so that the mill could not turn for a while. When the mill is open you can take a look in the middle of the mill for a small fee. You can also watch a film about the construction of Het Jonge Schaap in the building next to the mill and an exhibition about sawmill life under the mill.

The De Bonte Hen windmill was built in 1975 as an oil mill. The mill was built on the site where a mill with this name previously stood from 1693 to 1935. This mill was partially demolished and after that the remaining part of the mill and the barn was used as a storage place for years. From 1973 the mill remnant was rebuilt into an oil mill. The oil work was renewed between 1977 and 1979 and after that there was frequent oil beating with the mill. The mill was repaired in 2014 and in 2015 the mill was operational for the first time in months. The mill is still running today and you can buy all kinds of oil products such as linseed oil.

The history of this mill dates back to 1592. Together with other mills, the flour was ground for ship's biscuits and for starches to keep lace collars in shape.

Nekker
