Cycling past castles and forts in the Gelderse Vallei

In the Gelderse Vallei, you'll enjoy a wonderful day of cycling. You'll find plenty of peace and quiet here, as well as historic buildings, such as the Doesburger Molen (Doesburger Windmill) dating from 1620. Huis Kernhem is a unique estate: the gardens are designed in both French and English landscape styles. You'll have beautiful vistas! Incidentally, the house dates back to 1803. Between junctions 29 and 25, you'll cycle along the Bennekomse Meent. This nature reserve consists of species-rich grasslands growing on damp peat soil. These so-called blue grass meadows were once common but are now a rarity in the Netherlands. Around junction 47, you'll cycle along the Slaperdijk, built in 1653. Via Fort aan de Buursteeg, you'll cycle to Renswoude Castle. Finally, you'll pass Fort Daatselaar, dating from 1799. The route ends at Hotel & Eethuys De Wormshoef.
