The Overijssels Vechtdal is a wonderful cycling area. Follow the Vecht into Germany, you'll be there in no time!

German Vechtdal
The nice town of Hardenberg is the base for this route. You are close to the German border here, but you first make a detour to the beautiful old Gramsbergen before you drive into Germany. Just below Venebrügge you cross the Germany Road: in the Middle Ages this was the only connecting road through the marshes. The westernmost border marker of the German state of Lower Saxony is located at the pointed border with Germany.

Brinkdorp Rheeze
Rheeze is without a doubt one of the most beautiful villages in Overijssel. Step off to fully enjoy the charming view: centuries-old Saxon farms surrounded by meadows and stately old trees. Then you drive a few kilometers along the Overijsselse Vecht back to Hardenberg. In the river valley you see flowery meadows and old hedgerows. Cycling here is exceptionally quiet. Back at Hotel Restaurant De Bokkepruik you can sit down for a drink.

Please note: ferries sail at different times throughout the seasons or sometimes not at all. So check the sailing times before you set off.
