Zeeland Flanders has a beautiful coastline, but the hinterland is also worth a visit. Watch ships on the Western Scheldt, discover Breskens, enjoy rural views: a wonderfully varied cycling route.
Sinte Pier
A day in Zeeland Flanders is almost like a day in another country. Not surprising, because the area is culturally strongly influenced by Flanders. For example, you hear it in the Flemish accent of many residents. You will soon cycle into Nieuwvliet, popularly called Sinte Pier. This small village actually consists of two parts: Nieuwvliet-Dorp and Nieuwvliet-Bad. This cycle tour takes you through Nieuwvliet-Dorp, which was founded around 1600.
Breskens
It continues, past the unique nature reserve Waterdunen. You will also pass the mouth of the Western Scheldt. This is a strategic point where many ships pass by: Breskens, a little further away, is a real maritime city with its own fishing port and modern marina. You cycle back to Schoondijke via the hinterland.
