Through the old polders of Ossenisse

This route takes you through ancient polders and villages and over dikes with a view over the Western Scheldt. Along the way you will also see many fruit orchards - you will soon stock up on that delicious fruit at your end point!

Polders and monuments
It is wonderful to cycle through the old polders around Zeeuws-Vlaamse Kloosterzande. You pass through small hamlets such as Zeedorp, Knuitershoek and Oude Stoof. A real journey back in time, also because of the many monuments you pass along the way. In Lamswaarde you can see the Sint-Cornelius, a church from 1873. A little further on you will pass a farmhouse from 1834 and Vogelzicht, a polder mill from 1865. On the Meerdijk you will pass Huis Lettenburg, a monumental country estate.

Orchards
You cycle over the dikes that protect the area against the water of the Western Scheldt. Enjoy a breath of fresh air, with a beautiful view over the water and the ships that are on their way to Antwerp. On the other side of the dike lies the old polder landscape of Ossenisse. The polders here date back to the Middle Ages, special!
