With this route you explore the eastern Achterhoek and the border area with Germany. You cycle through the typical bocage landscape of this region, a beautiful cycling area.

At the starting point of Landwinkel Smits Vegetables & Fruit, you can stock up on tasty healthy snacks before departure. Then you set off through the beautiful Achterhoek landscape. Cycling at your leisure on car-free roads through the varied nature, wonderful! You pass the Wenninkmolen, a flour mill from 1860. After a while you cycle into the sparsely populated border area of Germany. At the Bocholter Aa you can get off for a picnic. What a beautiful region!

Castle Anholt
Just before the border you pass Anholt Castle. The origins of the impressive moated castle go back to the twelfth century. A museum has been opened in the castle. Here you will find the largest private collection of paintings from North Rhine-Westphalia, including Dutch masters such as Rembrandt. Back in the Netherlands you drive past Anholtse Broek: an estate that is largely in the hands of the owner Kasteel Anholt.
