Through the Kampina and the Oisterwijk Forests and Fens

Your route starts at Boshuis Venkraai. In the Kampina, you cycle through forests and across the vast heathland. In August, the heather begins to bloom, turning the heath into a purple sea. Benches are regularly placed by the small lakes to enjoy the view and the silence. You briefly leave the Kampina behind towards Lennisheuvel, where you cycle past a number of monumental farmhouses of the Kempen long-gable type. Just south of Haaren, you cycle past Nemerlaer Castle, which was built in the thirteenth century. In Haaren, in addition to many old farmhouses, you can also see the Old Tower from 1427. It is almost hard to imagine, but the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen (Oisterwijk Forests and Fens) were once a vast heathland area. Now you can enjoy a wonderful bike ride through the woods there.
