Cycling along the Ankeveense and Loosdrechtse Plassen

Variety trumps! From historic Oud-Loosdrecht you will be the first to cycle along the old country estates of's Gravenland. Further on you drive along the edge of the Naardermeer, a swampy nature reserve. You pass Fort Uitermeer, part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. As early as 1589, a redoubt was built at this location for the defense of Weesp. The Ankeveense Plassen is a quiet nature reserve that was created by peat extraction. In many places you can still recognize the pattern of ancient fields in the narrow strips of land. The peat was dried on these fields. From junction 3 you cycle over the dike along the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Enjoy the views over the water. And then a coffee on the terrace of Brasserie Wetterwille.
