Views along the Lower Rhine

From Camping't Einde you can make a beautiful bike ride along the floodplains of the Neder-Rijn, through the Amerongse Bos and through the polders of the Kromme Rijnstreek. In Leersum you will pass the Michaëlskerk from 1300. A little further on you can enjoy the historical atmosphere in the protected village view of Amerongen. You cycle through the Amerongse Bos and the Remmersteinse Bos, two of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Large beech trees grow on the stately avenues, a beautiful sight. On the other side of the Neder-Rijn you cycle through a very open landscape. On the dike you can see Molen De Hoop Rijswijk, a corn mill from the eighteenth century. In the historic city center of Wijk bij Duurstede you will discover the restored castle ruins with its square keep from 1270.
