This walk takes you across three estates on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. A wonderfully varied walk to relax. The ISVW estate was founded in 1916 by Frederik van Eeden, psychiatrist and writer of novels such as The Cool Lakes of Death. You walk through silent forests and over the heath towards Den Treek: an estate whose history dates back to the fourteenth century. Here you will see beautiful outbuildings, such as a farm from 1887 and a gamekeeper's house from 1838. What a wonderful historic atmosphere you will experience here. In Leusden-Zuid you will pass a monumental water control church from 1828. After your tour, you can continue to enjoy the peace and nature at the ISVW Estate.

Landgoed Den Treek

Situated on the transition from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to the Gelderse Vallei, bought by WH de Beaufort in 1807. The Henschoten estate was added to this by the marriage of his son Arnoud Jan to Anna Aleida Stoop. Together they cover 2,200 hectares of impressive nature.

Landgoed Geerestein

Geerestein
3931JB Woudenberg

Landgoed Geerestein is a private estate and has a total surface area of approximately 170 hectares. It is located in the municipality of Woudenberg, in the Utrecht part of the Gelderse Vallei at the foot of the Utrecht ridge. Geerestein's history dates back to the 14th century and it was probably named after the flared (ie sloping) shape of the plot on which the castle was founded. The estate consists of a combination of forest, ditches and open meadows that are connected by a network of winding paths and oak avenues. Geerestein also has a number of active farms and ten national monuments, including a castle, a landscape park and four cultural-historical buildings. Geerestein has been owned by our family since 1834 and we try to continue the estate by preserving the combination of nature, agriculture, recreation and cultural history in a sustainable way on the one hand and further developing it on the other. Location is closed on Sundays.
