Take a trip through nature in the border area of Sittard, Brunssum and Germany. You will pass through the Brunssummerheide and the Schinveldse Bossen, the largest contiguous forest area in South Limburg.
Border path
You pass the Stadbroekermolen, a watermill that originally dates from 1582. You cross the border with Germany, after which you cycle through the deciduous forest of the Tüdderner Fenn. As you cycle further on exactly on the border, you look out on the left over the valley of the Roode Beek and on the right over the marshland of the Leiffender Ven. Watch out for the border posts!
Amstenrade Castle
Once again across the border you cycle through the Schinveldse Bossen. The Schutterspark was designed between 1920 and 1940. The park is partly situated on the slope of a hill and partly in the valley of the Roode Beek. A little later you cycle over the rolling Brunssummerheide. What beautiful nature reserves you will find in this region! You pass Kasteel Amstenrade.
