Walking through Doetinchem

You can easily explore the cozy Doetinchem on foot. This city walk takes you past a number of sights, such as Kasteel de Kelder.

Villa Spacious view
You will pass the Havezate Hagen, also known as Kasteel de Kelder. The estate is located on a few river dunes of the Oude IJssel. The original manor house was destroyed by a fire in 1656. It was rebuilt, the version of the current building dates from 1934. A little further on you will pass a tea dome from 1905 that belongs to Villaruimzicht. The gigantic villa itself dates from 1885. The park around the building is an arboretum, there are still trees that are older than 100 years.

Walmill
Doetinchem was already founded in the Middle Ages. Little remains of the historic city center. In 1527 a major city fire destroyed the center. A mistake by the Allies - they thought they were bombing the German city of Isselburg in 1945 - largely wiped out the city center again. The Walmolen from 1851 is one of the remaining monuments.
