Cycling through Doetinchem and the surrounding area

Around Doetinchem you will find one of the most beautiful cycling areas in the Netherlands. In this sparsely populated region you will automatically switch back: ideal if you want to completely relax for a day.

Slangenburg estate
In the Achterhoek you cycle through a mosaic of grasslands and arable lands, streams and forests. It is wonderfully peaceful to travel for miles here. After a while you arrive at Landgoed Slangenburg. The castle of the same name dates from 1612, its predecessor was built in 1354. In cozy Doetinchem you pass the Walmolen from 1851. 

Low-Keppel
Laag-Keppel is a nice monumental hotspot. Here you see Keppel Castle, which originally dates from 1350. You will also see a water mill from the nineteenth century with the Follega mill from 1857 right next to it. In Hummelo you will pass the beautiful village church from 1839. Towards the end of your route you will pass Landgoed De Hoenderkamp, a reclamation area of approximately 350 hectares of forest, meadows and fields. Here too you will experience that typical tranquility of the Achterhoek.
