In the Flemish Ardennes you can take a walk through a beautiful area that is affectionately called'Little Switzerland\\\'. Along the Zwalmbeek you can see some beautiful old mills.

Zwalm valley
Walking along the Zwalmbeek you see a stream valley landscape typical of the Flemish Ardennes. On one side of the water there is a steep slope, on the other side the slope rises much more gradually. The Zwalm valley is one of the best preserved stream valleys in this region. You will see meadows, forest remnants, small landscape elements and salt marshes. You will also find an old-fashioned silence here. A wonderful area to relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Old mills
It is a bit of a climb every now and then, but it is more than worth it. From the hilltops you can enjoy wide views. Occasionally you pass beautiful farms and stately homes. The characteristic road chapels are also present here. On the Zwalm you can see, among other things, the IJzerkotmolen, an overshot water mill whose history dates back to the fifteenth century. The picturesque area around the eleventh-century Terbiest mill is a protected village view. Take a moment to look around and admire all the beauty around you.
