Walking on the Schovenhorst Estate

Landgoed Schovenhorst borders two beautiful primeval forests: the Putterbos and the Speulderbos. The old village centre of Putten is also within walking distance.

Dancing trees
The Putterbos and the adjacent Speulderbos are among the oldest forests in the Netherlands. In these varied primeval forests, nature is allowed to take its course, beautiful! The deeper you walk into the forest, the quieter it becomes. In the Speulderbos, the crooked oak and beech trunks in particular appeal to the imagination. They make the most wonderful bends, on a misty day they quickly look like dancing nymphs.

Historical Putten
In Putten you pass the mill 't Hert from 1899. It is the third mill on this spot: its two predecessors burned down. In the Dorpsstraat you pass some beautiful monuments, such as the former butcher's shop from 1917 with the beautiful stepped gable. The fifteenth-century village church is also worth a visit. There is still plenty to do on the Schovenhorst estate after your route. You can also enjoy a delicious meal at Brasserie Schovenhorst.

Schovenhorst Estate
Landgoed Schovenhorst has existed since 1848. Since its inception, the estate has experimented extensively with various tree species, so that you can admire several special monumental specimens in the arboretum.
