The Golden Devil Route

This golden route with a spicy collar takes you through the natural surroundings of Willebroek and Puurs. You can add an extra loop to the route to ride through the beautiful natural beauty around the Rupel.

Willebroek
You will soon be driving through the Tekbroek, a green oasis on the edge of Puurs. A little further on you will pass the Sint-Pietersburcht, a former fortress from the third fortress belt around Antwerp. The Fort of Liezele is now a museum, where you can learn a lot about the history of this fortress. Cycling along the Brussels-Rupel Canal you will see the striking Vredesbrug from afar. In the centre of Willebroek you will see various historical sights, such as the medieval Sint-Niklaaskerk.

Rupel Valley
The extra loop of this route takes you through the Rupel valley. In Domein Het Broek you will find a photogenic landscape with poplars, willows, black alders, meadows and ponds. How wonderfully peaceful it is to cycle here! You can also enjoy the peace and quiet and the many natural beauties along the banks of the Zenne and a little later the Rupel. The cultural Hof van Coolhem was once owned by the Cistercians. Now you will find an interesting mix of nature and culture there.
