The Golden Duvel Route

This gold-colored route with a spicy collar takes you through the natural surroundings of Willebroek and Puurs. You can add an extra loop to the route to drive through the beautiful natural scenery around the Rupel.

Willebroek
You soon drive through the Tekbroek, a green oasis on the edge of Puurs. A little further on you will pass Sint-Pietersburcht, a former fortress from the third fortress belt around Antwerp. The Fort of Liezele is now a museum, where you can learn a lot about the history of this fortress. Cycling along the Brussels-Rupel Canal, you can see the striking Vredesbrug from afar. In the center of Willebroek you can see various historical sights, such as the medieval Sint-Niklaas church.

Rupel Valley
The extra loop of this route takes you through the Rupel Valley. In Domein Het Broek you will find a photogenic landscape with poplars, willows, black alders, hay meadows and ponds. It's wonderfully quiet cycling here! You can also enjoy the tranquility and the abundance of natural beauty along the banks of the Zenne and a little later the Rupel. The cultural Hof van Coolhem was once owned by the Cistercians. Now you will find an interesting mix of nature and culture.
