Just above Utrecht you drive through a beautiful open polder landscape.

Along the way you will pass some cultural-historical sights. This route also includes monumental farms and country houses, such as Sypestein Castle and Hooge Vuursche Castle. At the Maarsseveense and Loosdrechtse Plassen you look out over a picturesque watery landscape. There is still such silence here. Just like in the vast forests around Hilversum. During this cycling route you can completely relax and enjoy the varied surroundings.

The history of Drakensteyn dates back to 1360, when this castle was first written about. In 1634 Ernst van Reede became the owner of Drakensteyn. His son Gerard had a new, octagonal house built in 1640. The house was then recognized as a ridderhofstad and Gerard became a knight. He then also built a presbytery, a school, a mill and an inn in the village.
