From Amersfoort into the Gelderse Vallei

From the edge of Amersfoort you can drive straight into the Gelderse Vallei. Here you will find a varied landscape and of course the rich cultural history for which Gelderland is so famous.

Along the Nuldernauw
You cycle through a landscape that consists of a series of meadows, fields and nature reserves. It is easy to travel for miles in this beautiful area. Just past Nijkerk you drive over the Zeedijk, a name that recalls the former Zuiderzee. On the left you look out over the Nuldernauw, on the right over the Arkemheen National Landscape. This peat meadow area with its age-old subdivision pattern is known for its peace and space. There is hardly a tree or house to be seen.

Gelders Paradise
Time seems to have stood still in the Kallenbroek area. You pass through an old farm landscape with grasslands, fields, streams and forests. The Kallenbroekerweg itself is also beautiful, it is lined with oak trees. A little further on you will pass Den Olden Florus, one of the oldest existing post mills in the Netherlands. At Stoutenburg Estate you will learn more about the nature and cultural history of the Gelderse Vallei.
