Description
Stage 7 of the Fietserspad takes you from Gennep to Venlo. In Gennep, you will find a listening point of the Liberation Route, L37: Sinterklaas at MariaOord. Here you will learn more about the shortage of all kinds of foodstuffs in the final months of 1944. You cycle along the Meuse to Heijen and Afferden. There you cross the Meuse by ferry and continue your way along the other bank. Admire the country houses De Gun and Huis De Steegh. You will also pass nature reserves such as the Geysteren estate, the Houthuizerheide, and the Zwart Water nature reserve. Along the way, you can take a break at 't Trefpunt Geijsteren or at Veerhuys Tante Jet. You eventually end your journey in Venlo at the Maagdenberg.
