Views along the Waal near Nijmegen

From Lent you cycle to the Snelbinder, the bridge over the Waal specially constructed for pedestrians and cyclists. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the iconic Waalkade. After a tour along the historical centre of Nijmegen you will pass Banketbakkerij Chocolaterie Looijenga. Get off here to enjoy a delicious pastry or bonbon. You cycle through the old Valkhofpark where you will find the Barbarossa ruins, a centuries-old remnant of the demolished Valkhof castle. Further on you cycle into the Gelderse Poort. From the dike you cycle for many kilometres along the floodplains on both sides of the Waal. Here you can enjoy the peace and beautiful nature.
