Description
The seventeenth stage of the Pieterpad takes you close to the German border from Millingen aan de Rijn to Groesbeek. You walk through open areas full of meadows and fields, but also through wooded estates and through small villages. Time to start this varied walk!
Beautiful green nature reserves
You start your walk in Millingen aan de Rijn and from here you walk into an open area where you can relax. Enjoy the view over the fields here as you set course for Leuth and the German Zyfflich. These two villages are located in De Duffelt, a low-lying area known for the farms built on high mounds. Then you walk through the nature reserve of De Duivelsberg and across the Jurgens Estate to Groesbeek. These areas mainly consist of lush forests and have only been part of the Netherlands since 1949. Before this, these green areas were territory of Germany.
Pancake house De Duivelsberg
After about 14 kilometers you can take a break at the De Duivelsberg pancake house. Enjoy a drink and a delicious pancake here to build up a new energy supply for the last part of the route. You ultimately end your tour in Groesbeek. This village is located on the foothills of the Lower Rhine Ridge.
The Pieterpad
This route is part of the Pieterpad, a walking path that extends from the tip of Groningen to South Limburg. On this path you can get acquainted with the different landscapes and beautiful sights that the Netherlands has to offer. Of course, you don't have to explore the entire route. You can also choose to walk one or more stages of the Pieterpad.
